Day 1: Relaxed South – The Maspalomas Dunes
Arrival and settling in the southern area, the most touristic and well-connected. Walk along the Maspalomas lighthouse, one of the island’s landmarks, and take in the desert landscape of the dunes, a protected natural heritage site.
At sunset, the golden colours reflect off the sand creating a unique atmosphere.
In the evening, you can choose to dine in Meloneras, an elegant area with restaurants, boutiques and charming hotels, or opt for the quieter and more welcoming atmosphere of San Agustín, with its seafront promenade and a selection of smaller, less touristy but very well-kept restaurants.
Where to stay: Maspalomas or San Agustín area – ideal for a first impression of the island, perfect for those seeking comfort and amenities.
Day 2: Beaches and Nature – Anfi del Mar, Amadores and Puerto Rico

Dedicate the day to the sea and relaxation. Start at Anfi del Mar, an artificial but very scenic beach with white sand and palm trees, ideal for families and calm swimming.
Then move on to Playa de Amadores, a sheltered bay with calm, turquoise waters, perfect for snorkelling. Walk along the panoramic boardwalk connecting Amadores to Puerto Rico, hugging the cliffs.
Extra option: catamaran trip with a sunset aperitif or kayak tour.
Day 3: Villages of the South – Mogán and Its Valleys

Morning in Puerto de Mogán, a charming fishing village known for its flower-draped bridges and white houses with colourful shutters.
Stroll along the harbour, visit the weekly market (on Fridays) and enjoy an artisan gelato.
After lunch, explore the inland valleys of Mogán, with their tropical fruit plantations and small villages nestled in nature.
Where to stay: farm stays or traditional houses in Mogán for a more genuine and peaceful experience.
Day 4: Up in the Heights – Tejeda and Roque Nublo

Set off early to head up into the mountainous heart of the island. Along the way, stop at the various miradores to take in the views.
Visit Roque Nublo, a huge rock formation sacred to the indigenous people, reachable via a roughly one-hour walk through pine trees and lava fields.
Arrive in Tejeda in the afternoon: a well-kept and tranquil village, famous for its almond sweets and the spectacular view of Roque Bentayga.
Recommended route: from Mogán to Tejeda via Ayacata – a scenic road and less winding than other options.
Overnight: Tejeda
Day 5: The Green Heart – Artenara and Tamadaba

Continue to Artenara, the highest village in Gran Canaria. Here you can visit the cave dwellings carved into the rock, which are still inhabited.
From Artenara, a trail leads into the Tamadaba Natural Park, one of the best-preserved woodland areas on the island, perfect for hiking through Canarian pines, sweeping viewpoints and deep silence.
Ideal for those looking to recharge in nature.
Where to stay: mountain refuges, rural houses, or return to the north coast.
Day 6: North-West Coast – Agaete and Puerto de las Nieves

After the lush nature of Tamadaba, head down to the north-west coast. Arrive in Agaete, a white village surrounded by coffee plantations and tropical plants.
Walk down to Puerto de las Nieves, overlooking the ocean and the departure point for ferries to Tenerife.
The sunset here, between the cliffs of El Dedo de Dios and the Atlantic, is one of the most evocative on the island.
Tip: have lunch or dinner with fresh fish at the restaurants along the seafront.
Day 7: Las Palmas – History and Beach

Conclude with the capital, Las Palmas.
Start in the historic Vegueta quarter: wander through cobblestone alleys, visit the Cathedral of Santa Ana, the Columbus House and the local markets.
Then head to Playa de Las Canteras, 3 km long, ideal for a swim or a walk along the promenade.
For a green break, Parque Doramas offers fountains, exotic plants and a peaceful atmosphere.
This itinerary gives you a complete overview of the island, from the tourist coast to the solitary peaks, through historic villages and wild nature. You can adapt it to suit your own pace, but every stop will make you feel the deep breath of Gran Canaria.
